Rising star Voodoocuts has previously delivered killer re-edits and remixes for the likes of Matsuana Records and Resense. Here he strikes out on his own, delivering a limited, coloured-vinyl reissue of one of his most sought-after 45s, the original version of which landed way back in 2017. On the A-side he sticks a rocket under Etta James' funk number 'Only a Fool', brilliantly re-imagining it as a weighty disco-funk number full of cut-up horn stabs, layered-up percussion and four-to-the-floor drums. On the flip he chops, loops and rearranges Nico Gomez' Latin psych-funk classic 'Lupita', turning it into the kind of breathless, percussive-rich monster that B-Boys and B-Girls the world over love so much.

Step forward a pumping funky disco edit of Etta James’ 70s funk period number Only A Fool that, frankly, only a fool would ignore. Still, what to put on the B-side? It better be something big. Ah yes – Loopita – that’ll do a nicely, a windmilling b-boy breaks edit of Nico Gomez’ giant latin-psych cut Lupita that not only manages to take things in a different direction to Bronx Dogs’ Mambo Roc but be equally dope.
